In this picture Jake is good-naturedly indulging both his brother and us by sticking around long enough for the camera to focus. Micah, on the other hand, could happily stay by Jake’s side forever.

I didn’t think Micah’s little boy tug back was any kind of match for Jake’s big boy pull away, but brotherly love is not only unconditional, it is supremely patient. Now, when I look Jake and Micah, all grown up, I understand why ships come equipped with anchors.
